Demian Lichtenstein began his career in the Entertainment Industry in the early seventies as a child actor in New York City. performing at the distinguished 18th Street Playhouse, Circle in the Square and Joseph Papp’s Public Theatre all by the age of 10. Having studied photography and film throughout his childhood, by the age of 12 Lichtenstein’s first photograph was published on the front page of a major newspaper. After he was hired as a production assistant on John Irvin’s 80’s horror classic Ghost Story, Lichtenstein was hooked on movies, which combined his love of dramatic performances and photography.
He is currently in editorial; on his latest feature film THE RAZORS EDGE starring Tommy Lee Jones, James Franco and Charlotte McKinney which he co-wrote, produced and directed. As well as in active development on his next feature film THE RANGER: REDEMTION.
Lichtenstein graduated in 1984 from New York City’s prestigious High School of Art & Design. Where he was designated a National Honor student, a Regent Scholar, and was the recipient of the New York City Media Award for excellence and achievement in cinema and voted the number one High School Film and Television student in NYC.
Lichtenstein accepted the Helena Rubenstein Scholarship to attend New York University, Tisch School of The Arts. In his sophomore year, he was chosen by the University Chairman, Charles Milne, to be his Teaching Assistant and was able to enter the senior level film production program three years early. While still in school, Lichtenstein won the MTV Award for Best Independent Music Video and received the “Best Action Adventure Director” Award at the NYU film festival.
In 1988, Lichtenstein earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film, with a minor in Business from NYU. Upon graduating, he was immediately hired as Manager of Creative Affairs for Columbia Pictures, under the direction of Dawn Steele. Simultaneously while jumpstarting his career in the development side of motion pictures, Lichtenstein launched his own Independent Film Production company, Lightstone, and quickly became one of the top music video directors in the business. Throughout the late eighties and nineties, the golden era of music television, Lichtenstein produced and directed videos for Warner Brothers, Sony Music, Columbia Records, Epic Records, Tommy Boy Records, Universal/MCA, and many more. To his credit, Lichtenstein produced and directed over 250 music videos for Grammy Award winning artists including Sting and Eric Clapton, as well as having achieved videos ranked #1 in the world in the Pop, Rock, Rap, and Reggae genres.
During his rise to the top of the music video industry he partnered with Rebel Films, Pseudo Online Entertainment, and Film Inc. in NYC to produce a series of film and television projects. The Chairman of Sony Music, hired Lichtenstein and Lightstone Entertainment as the in-house production company for Sony Music Studios in New York City. It was here that Lichtenstein forged his business partnership with Ric Wake, Head of A&R for Sony Music Worldwide. Wake, a world-renowned Grammy and Academy Award winning music producer for artists such as Celine Dion and Mariah Carey, expanded his career into film/TV as the lead producer of the soundtrack for the Academy Award winning motion picture Chicago.
In 1997, Lichtenstein made his feature directorial debut with the film Lowball, which he also wrote and produced for the Showtime Network. Lowball received numerous awards on the independent film circuit. His entrepreneurial spirit led him into the world of film financing. Lichtenstein served as Executive Producer and Founding Partner for Film Bond International which he later sold to Frontier Insurance Group (his first exit). He next secured funding for the critically acclaimed motion picture O, produced by his then business partner Anthony Rhulen and distributed by Miramax/Lionsgate, starring Martin Sheen, Josh Hartnett and Julia Stiles.
After serving as Chairman of the New York Independent Film Coalition, Lichtenstein arrived in Hollywood where within six months, he raised $75 million dollars for his debut major studio motion picture 3000 Miles To Graceland, which he wrote, produced and directed for Warner Brothers. The film’s cast includes Kevin Costner, Kurt Russell, Christian Slater, Courtney Cox, Ice T, Kevin Pollak and Thomas Haden Church. Lichtenstein also produced the soundtrack, featuring songs by Elvis Presley, Filter and The Crystal Method. 3000 Miles To Graceland has gone on to become an international cult hit. Lichtenstein has also written scripts for RKO pictures, Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, Electric Entertainment, Crusader Entertainment, Constantine Films, and Warner Brothers.
Having worked as a producer, director, and writer, with hands-on experience developing projects for all of the major film and television studios, Lichtenstein and Wake decided to form Equilibrium Entertainment, a state-of-the-art independent motion picture and post production company created to take advantage of the technological breakthroughs in the entertainment industry where Lichtenstein served as CEO.
During this time Lichtenstein partnered with Bertelsmann Group US and Random House where he co-authored the international best-selling book then produced and directed the Documentary for Discover The Gift, an inspirational, transformational narrative that follows Demian’s personal journey for spiritual understanding and growth, featuring the Dalai Lama, Jack Canfield (author of “Chicken Soup for the Soul”), Marianne Williamson and Reverend Michael Bernard Beckwith.
Lichtenstein’s creative credits include producing and directing the independent feature Venus & Vegas, an action comedy starring Donald Faison, Eddie Kaye Thomas and Eddie Guerra. He also produced The Unseen and was Producer/Director of Photography for Love And Suicide, an inspirational character study shot entirely on location in Havana Cuba. In addition to his work behind the camera, Lichtenstein has also been mentored by James Cameron on Avatar 1.
Lichtenstein is also a writer, producer, and director in the Video Game industry, with #1 hits such as the successful PAYDAY video game franchise / Net TV series.
As the managing director and CEO of Payday Productions, LLC (video game company) and Phantom Games, LLC, Lichtenstein also oversaw the M&A roll-up of five companies under the Swedish public company Starbreeze Studios, and its United States counterpart Starbreeze LA.
After completing the sale of his companies and several major IP’s to Starbreeze Studios, Lichtenstein accepted the position of US Studio Head and oversaw all US Video Gaming, Film, Television, VR and Major Event initiatives. After completing production on The Walking Dead VR Video Game and the John Wick VR Game, Lichtenstein resigned from Starbreeze in order to co-found First Contact Entertainment, a premiere VR Gaming company based in Santa Monica, CA. Once that company was established, Lichtenstein set his sights on the future of entertainment. Since his formative time on the Avatar Movie set and with coaching from James Cameron Lichtenstein began to develop a major Intellectual Property known today as SPACEGEN. The SPACEGEN mobile game is in active development.
During the pandemic Lichtenstein help create and launch Salesumentary, a Digital Marketing and Documentary Film company where he produced and directed over 70 marketing and sales videos for clients such as Tony Robbins, Mike Tyson and Mathew McConaughey. Lichtenstein continues to serve as the CEO of his production company Lightstone Entertainment, Inc. which has built relationships across the global entertainment business for over 30 years.
Lichtenstein is a member of the Director’s Guild of America (DGA) where he was a Co-Founder of The Directors Guild Leadership Council, working alongside Steven Spielberg , James Cameron and other A list creators to protect the rights of filmmakers worldwide by having a direct influence on domestic and global politics in the entertainment world. He is a sought-after speaker worldwide on Leadership and the Future of Entertainment. He was born and raised in NYC, and lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their two young boys.
In our increasingly artificial world, Toby Lightman’s pure and soulful voice cuts through the noise and connects with people emotionally. Classically trained on the violin and self-taught on the guitar, Lightman was unaware of her vocal talent until her high school graduation, when she performed her first solo. The crowd’s overwhelming reaction propelled her to buy her first guitar; which led to landing a major record deal with Lava Records after college.
Toby Lightman’s debut album Little Things appeared on the “Billboard Top 100” in its first week and gave way to comparisons to Lauryn Hill, Sheryl Crow and Norah Jones. Lightman received high praise from Rolling Stone, People, Billboard and others, which led to appearances on Letterman, Carson Daly, Conan, CBS Morning Show as well as extensive touring with artists such as Rob Thomas, Jewel, Gavin DeGraw, Train, Marc Cohn, and a special evening opening for Prince, an artist Lightman grew up idolizing. As an independent artist, Lightman has gone on to have over 100 song placements in films, tv shows and ads, and has also composed integral songs for the iconic Sesame Street and other shows on PBS.
Following in her idol, Prince’s, footsteps, Lightman self-produced her latest album AFTER ALL which she released in 2022. “Over the years, I have worked with only male producers because I knew of no women that were producing. I didn’t want to share songs about my journey through pregnancy, loss, and motherhood, so I decided to teach myself how to produce,” says Lightman, As one of the few female’s to enter into the world of production, Lightman is dedicated to encourage other women to do the same. Through organizations like She is the Music, Women in Music and Balance the Mix, Toby Lightman is championing women to take control of their creations as she did. “It’s extremely empowering to write a song from the depths of my soul, with feelings that
are genuinely mine, as a woman, and then bring that song to life without the help of a male producer who most likely won’t connect at all”, says Lightman. “The studio should be a safe place for women. However, we make up only 5% of all producers throughout the music business, so it’s our job to empower women who want to take control of their own creative destinies!”
Lightman is currently producing her next album slated for release in the spring of 2025 and her latest single “Higher” was recently recorded by American Idol finalist Breanna Nix, whose version reached #1 on iTunes Country Chart, iTunes Top Songs Chart and Billboard Christian Digital Songs Sales.

Dr. Juliette Engel moved to Moscow in 1999 and founded the Angel Coalition to combat human trafficking. Over the next ten years, the Angel Coalition grew into an underground railroad that assisted thousands of victims. She also co-founded Moscow’s municipal orphanage staff training center, Women and Children First, and a nationwide program of community center support for single mothers, the Babushka Brigade. Her life was a constant collage of travel and adventure with a cluster of Russian colleagues and friends. She sweated in banyas and jumped into frigid Siberian lakes, traveled by train and bus to small villages on the steppes, and ate blinis with honey in Novgorod and smoked fish on the shores of Lake Onega. She sailed the great Volga River, delivering aid to orphanages and getting to know the kids, watching them grow over the years and trying, often in vain, to keep them safe. She came back to America in 2010 when her protégé was murdered by traffickers and Russian Military Intelligence warned her that she would be next. She is currently living in the Washington DC area and writing her memoirs.
I’m the co-founder of the GrowOya. I’m a certified chef with limited time to spare, but a passion for the farm-to-table movement. Learning about food systems while on the Sustainability Council at the University of British Columbia, led me to want to find the most efficient, sustainable way to grow my own food, while living in a state of "time poverty" (too many things to do and not enough time to do them) that so many of us seem to be experiencing. From this, Growoya was born!
I believe that growing a garden is the greatest act we can do for healthy communities, healthy bodies, and a greener, more sustainable planet.
I'm so grateful to have found gardening at the busiest time of my life. As a new father and as a busy working chef, life couldn't have gotten any more hectic. Gardening taught me to slow down, connect to the natural world around me, and nurture one of my biggest passions, the local food system. Through this post, I'd love to share with you a few of the ways gardening has changed my life, hoping it might inspire you to find some time in the soil, too!
Discovering Mindfulness in the Garden
Mindfulness is the art of being fully present and immersed in the moment. At the time, as I said, I lived in a very fast-paced world. While gardening I noticed time would slow down, which allowed me to be more aware and to pay attention to all that was going on from seeds popping up, insects, and the feel of the soil. For me, gardening became a meditative practice, a time when I could simply be, with my hands in the dirt, under the open sky.
A Boost to Physical Health
Gardening, I found, is surprisingly good exercise. Whether you're turning the soil, pulling weeds, or harvesting, your body is in constant motion. Plus, the added bonus of soaking up vitamin D while I tended to my plants was a game-changer for my health.
Mental Health Miracles
The mental health benefits I’ve experienced from gardening are pretty amazing. It’s incredible how just a few hours in the garden can significantly reduce my stress levels. My garden has become my sanctuary, a place where I can find peace and regain my balance, no matter the chaos of the day.
Emotional Well-being and Connection
Gardening has deepened my emotional connection to the world around me. It has taught me to find joy in simple things and appreciate nature's cycles. This connection has brought a sense of wonder and gratitude into my life that I hadn't experienced before.
Eating Healthier, Naturally
As a chef, I know how gardening influences our diets and overall health. There’s something incredibly satisfying about eating food you’ve grown yourself. The fresh, homegrown fruits, vegetables, and herbs from my garden are not only delicious and nutritious but also encourage me to make healthier food choices.
Fostering Community and Friendships
Gardening has also expanded my social circle. Joining a community garden as well as the online garden community introduced me to a group of people who share my interests and values. These connections have provided me with a sense of belonging and support. The shared experiences and knowledge among fellow gardeners have been invaluable, making my gardening journey all the more enriching.
Contributing to a Greener Planet
Beyond the personal gains, I’ve become acutely aware of the positive environmental impact of gardening. It’s empowering to know that my small patch of green contributes to biodiversity, helps pollinators, and reduces my carbon footprint. This realization has deepened my commitment to gardening and environmental stewardship. A hyper-local and seasonal diet is one of the best ways to love the planet and dramatically decreases the negative impacts of our globalized diet.
A Path to a Fuller Life
Reflecting on my gardening journey, I'm amazed at how it has transformed my life. It’s more than just a hobby; it’s a pathway to the best tasting food, better health, and a deeper connection to nature and community. Gardening has taught me patience, resilience, and the joy of living in the moment.
If you're looking for a way to enrich your life, I can't recommend gardening enough. It doesn’t matter if you have a vast garden, a small balcony, or just a windowsill for a few pots. The act of nurturing plants can bring profound joy and satisfaction. So, why not give it a try? You might just discover a passion that feeds your soul, enriches your body, and brings peace to your mind, just as it did for me.

You are not broken. You are becoming.
Co- Host of ‘Fit After 40’ podcast with Chris & Tony.
One of the treasures of my life has been the privilege to enter the lives of those suffering through unexpected diagnoses, disease, physical pain, and emotional distress. I do not take for granted this calling to serve and the blessing of knowing God’s will in my life. Writing, speaking, and communicating with you allows me to reach more, help more, and learn more. This is a part of my evolutionary purpose, stones built upon the cornerstone of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.
In 2018 a dying patient comforted me with the words, “It’s okay, I am going to have a good death.” Her peace through her suffering inspired my quest for the answers to “What are the ingredients of a good death?” The ingredients discovered for a good death changed my life and my hope is that they make your suffering a little less and your joy a little more.
I was in my thirties when I met Jesus for the first time. I wasn’t a fan. He had stolen my husband’s heart and I just didn’t get him (Jesus or my husband). However, Jesus pursued me to the end of myself and when I cried out for his peace, his joy, HIM…He answered! He accepted me as I was, deeply flawed and yet forgiven. This is the Jesus I know. He is my Lord and Savior who came to this broken world and suffered on the cross unto death. Yet, He came to conquer death and was raised to the right hand of Father God so that I may one day also survive my death. This is my best death. If you are reading this and do not know him, He is pursuing you too! Stop running.
I hope to share my family with you as we get to know each other. My husband Scott and I share five great children, two fantastic sons-in-law, and eight super grandchildren. We raised our kids with the quote of “roots to grow and wings to fly” and they are each flying in their own journey. When we come together it can be a beautiful mess and not without drama (let’s keep it real here). I love to have Christmas in matching pajamas and don’t be surprised if we show up to Krispy Kremes in our matching flannels. We are a tribe. In fact, myself and the kids are members of the Western Cherokee Tribe.
I graduated from medical school in 1989 and pursued Internal Medicine at Baylor Medical Center in Houston. In 1992, I was recruited as one of three physicians in a new hospital-based program—what we now call Hospitalists. Since then, I’ve spent most of my career caring for patients at their most vulnerable, and in doing so, they’ve become my greatest teachers. In 2009, a medical mission trip to Rwanda changed my life. I felt God say, “This is your place and your purpose.” I expected to build a clinic, but God invited me into a season of growth and waiting. Serving with Africa New Life—as a volunteer, board member, and now Chair—has been a profound gift. That clinic is now a thriving hospital. God’s plans truly are better than ours.
