I'm imagining someone who's denying the human influence on climate change, after the onslaught of these two past hurricanes, saying to Mother Nature, "Well....if you put it that way...."
Now, while we may not be sure that there is a direct correlation between these 2 major events and the effect of climate change........still....
So we've chosen "If you put it that way" as our featured phrase of the week.
Here's one interpretation of the meaning of the phrase:
"A phrase meant to represent one's humble acceptance of the fact that he was wrong all along, after it being made completely obvious by the other part."
Some possible examples:
"If you continue to eat fattening foods, you'll get fat."
"Well, if you put it that way."
If you spend more money than you make and don't take a bath, you'll be filthy ....poor.
"Well....when you put it that way."
If you don't listen in to our program tonight, you'll miss out on some distinctive insights, absurd notions, zany characters, music and more silly set ups to the punchline, "if you put it that way."
"Well...if you put it that way, I'll plan to tune in."
"Well...if you put it that way, I'll plan to tune in."
