The Holistic Health Show, March 30, 2013
Guest on the Holistic Health Show next Saturday include Dr Kedar N. Prasad and Dr Charles Majors.
Dr. Kedar N. Prasad, author of Fighting Cancer with Vitamins and Antioxidants, obtained a Master’s degree in Zoology from the University of Bihar in India, and a Ph.D. degree in Radiation Biology from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. He then went to Brookhaven National Laboratory for Post-doctoral training. Dr. Prasad Joined the Department of Radiology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center where he became Professor in 1980. Later, he was appointed as the Director for the Center for Vitamins and Cancer Research. He has published over 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals including Nature, Science, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). He has written several book chapters and abstracts as well as authored or edited 18 books on radiobiology, radiation protection and nutrition and cancer. He is a member of several professional organizations, and serves as an ad-hoc member of various Study Sections of the National Institute of Health (NIH). He is a frequently invited speaker at National and International meetings on nutrition and cancer. In 1982, he was invited by the Nobel Prize Committee to nominate a candidate for the Nobel Prize in Medicine. He was selected to deliver the 1999 Harold Harper Lecture at the meeting of the American College of Advancement of Medicine. He is a former President of the International Society for Nutrition and Cancer. Dr. Prasad has consistently obtained NIH grants for his research. His current interests are in the area of radiation protection, nutrition and cancer and nutrition and neurological diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease. Since 2005, he is Chief Scientific Officer of Premier Micronutrient Corporation..
Dr. Charles Majors has devoted over 15 years studying health and healing to prevent and reverse diseases through natural methods. He is the co-author of 2 books- Maximized Living Makeover and Cruise Ship or Nursing Home. He graduated from University of Illinois with a bachelors of Science and went on to receive his doctorate degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic. In less than 10 years he has opened 6 chiropractic clinics. He is a highly sought after speaker and Dr. Majors has given hundreds of live lecture events in the past 10 years. In September 2010 he was diagnosed with an incurable bone marrow cancer that metastasized to his brain, with only weeks to live, he left conventional medicine and applied the same principles he had been teaching for years to reverse his own cancer and not only survive but thrive. He lives in Plainfield, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, with his beautiful wife Andrea and their 4 children.
Dr. Kedar N. Prasad, CSO was the first person in the United States to receive a Ph.D. degree in Radiation Biology from the University of Iowa, Iowa City. In 1979, he was the first to show that vitamin C can enhance the effect of radiation and chemotherapeutic agents on tumor cells. In 1982, he discovered that vitamin E succinate was the most effective form of vitamin E in killing cancer cells but not normal cells. Subsequently, he showed that vitamin E succianate enhanced the killing effect of radiation and chemotherapeutic agents on tumor cells, but not normal cells. He also demonstrated the novel concept that multiple antioxidants are more effective in killing tumor cells than the individual antioxidants. He has published many articles and books in the areas of nutrition and cancer, and nutrition and neurological diseases particularly Alzheimer's disease and Parkison's disease. These studies were published in highly prestigious journals such as Science, Nature, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, USA. He taught Radiation Biology to residents in Radiology and Nutrition and Cancer to Medical Students. Dr. Prasad has consistently obtained NIH grants for his research during his 35 years of research career.
Dr. Prasad is a member of several professional societies including Radiation Research Society, Society for Experimental Biology and Medicine, American Society for Cell Biology, American Association for Cancer Research, American Society for Neurochemistry, American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, International Society of Developmental Neuroscience, International Brain Research Organization (IBRO).
Dr. Prasad has received several honors, which include:
• Invitation by the Nobel Prize Committee to nominate a candidate for the Nobel Prize in Medicine for 1982
• The 1999 Harold Harper Lecture at the meeting of the American College for Advancement in Medicine
• An award for the best review of 1998-1999 on antioxidants and cancer by the American College of Nutrition
• An Award for the best review of 1999-2000 on antioxidants and Parkison's disease by the American College of Nutrition
• An Award for the best research paper of 2001-2002 on antioxidants and statin drugs by the American College of Nutrition
• Fellow, American College of Nutrition
In 2000, he jointly founded Premier Micronutrient Corporation with Drs. Gerald M. Haase, and William C. Cole, and Mr. David Newell. He was primarily responsible for developing all intellectual properties of PMC. Currently, he is the Chief Scientific Officer of PMC.
Beat the Odds. Avoid Chronic Illnesses and Prescribed Medications. The Holistic Health Show teaches you how using Mind, Body, Spirit, Relationship, Environment, and Political Interventions.
This show could save your life by providing you with comprehensive holistic interventions for staying well and overcoming illnesses. Staying healthy and overcoming illnesses involve a combination of body-mind-spirit-environment-relationship-political interventions. I believe these should be the most effective ones available and also the least caustic and invasive.
The host uses and recommends a combination of holistic interventions for maximum effectiveness in maintaining health but many guests will present an in depth discussion on one aspect of the whole. Interventions in the six areas identified above should be used together, however, for maximum effectiveness.
