Vivian Fang Liu

Felix W. Ortiz, a member of the Assembly, states, 'Vivian Fang Liu was born to be a musician.' Ms. Liu, born in China, has studied music in both the East and the West. She has actively performed in the United States and Europe, with venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Hammerstein Hall, Gracie Mansion, Citi Field, and more recently, she was invited to perform at St. Smith Square in London. Ms. Liu has been invited to judge many music competitions in the United States and China. Additionally, she serves as a piano adjudicator in the New York State School of Music Association (NYSSMA). Ms. Liu has a strong passion for teaching, and her creative teaching approach is well-received by young musicians. She holds a Master's degree in classical piano performance from New York University and a Music Education Master’s degree from Teacher’s College, Columbia University.

Vivian Fang Liu is an award-winning pianist, singer, songwriter, Grammy Voting Member, and Grammy U Mentor. She has graced some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, the Grammy Museum, Mozarthaus, and the Wiener Musikverein in Vienna. Her music has been featured on prominent platforms such as PBS, ABC7, SinoVision, and SiriusXM.

In March 2022, the Recording Academy honored Ms. Liu as the featured artist for Women’s History Month. She was recognized by Steinway & Sons as a “Top Piano Teacher” for three consecutive years (2022–2024) and has received numerous accolades, including “Artist of the Year” and “Album of the Year” from the Funky Kids Awards in Australia, as well as four Global Music Awards. In 2024, she was invited to speak and lead workshops at Harvard University, and in 2025, she received the “Best Songwriter” award from the World Entertainment Awards.

Ms. Liu has performed the national anthem at professional MLB and WNBA games at Citi Field and the Barclays Center in New York. She has also made special guest appearances alongside renowned Asian celebrity singers during their North American tours. As a respected music educator and adjudicator, she regularly serves as a judge for local and international music competitions, mentoring students who have performed at Carnegie Hall, toured globally, and received invitations to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

In academia, Ms. Liu has presented her research at prestigious international conferences, including the ISME World Music Education Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, and the 12th Asia-Pacific Music Education Research Conference, where her paper on Asian American music education received widespread recognition. In 2023, her co-authored paper was published in Music Education Research, one of the field’s leading academic journals.

Ms. Liu holds master’s degrees in Music Education and Classical Piano Performance from Teachers College, Columbia University and New York University. Her distinguished career—spanning acclaimed performances, transformative educational initiatives, and impactful scholarly work—reflects her commitment to fostering cultural diversity and accessibility in the musical arts.

In music production, Ms. Liu also serves as a producer and project contractor, collaborating with music businesses around the world. Her clientele includes major industry players such as ByteDance Ltd., the parent company of TikTok, among others.

Johann Ilgenfritz attained his Master in Photography in Germany, working successfully as a
Fashion Photographer for almost 20 years in Hamburg and London. His life changed drastically in
2011 when he had a heart attack and six month later was diagnosed with cancer.
After unsuccessful Radio Therapy he was left to find other survival options—which he did. During
his search for a cure he turned to the internet, soon realising that there was no one central point
where you could turn to for reliable online heath information, regardless of what your health issues
are. He decided on creating just such a platform and launched UK Health Radio, still fighting
cancer at the time.

After overcoming cancer through nutritional and lifestyle changes, he earned the title “The Curator
of Health Expertise” from the press. His guiding principle is simple: “Good health is a choice.”
Initially, he saw cancer as the root of his illness but later realised it was merely a symptom of an
already unwell body. He understood that by addressing the underlying cause, he could transform the
outcome.

out as major contributors, as well as environmental factors. This book explores the empowering
philosophy that if our actions contribute to illness, they can also pave the way to health and healing.

After graduating from Escambia County High School in Atmore, Lou signed a professional baseball contract with the St. Louis Cardinals. Over a ten-year career, Lou also played for the New York Yankees organization and coached in the Cincinnati Reds organization.

 Lou got his B.S. degree from Troy State University (AL), graduating after his baseball career. He coached a year in Troy, then spent four years with Merrill Lynch as an Account Executive. Lou moved into the training and development field with Pat Ryan and Associates of Chicago, Ill. in l974.

After 1980, he did contract training for numerous national organizations and over a thirty (30) year period worked with over 2,800 companies in 44 states and two foreign countries. Lou has spoken in every city in the USA with a population of over 150,000 people. Lou spent almost fifteen years as a radio show host before retiring in 2017.

Craig Shoemaker has had a career in show business, spanning over four decades as a stand up comedian, actor, author, writer and producer. He was named Comedian of the Year at The American Comedy Awards on ABC and garnered two NATAS Emmy awards. His 90-minute stand-up special, Daditude, aired prime time on SHOWTIME Network and was on the front page on Netflix for several months.

Craig Shoemaker has performed comedy for four US Presidents, four solo comedy TV specials, won Standup Comedian of the Year at the American Comedy Awards, appeared on Broadway, is a two-time NATAS Emmy Award winner, a WGA scribe, an award-winning TV/Film producer, and best-selling author of a novel and two children’s books. Craig is a prominent speaker and coach; the founder and creator of Winning With Humor live events, one-on-one coaching, and training system. Craig has written, produced, and starred in two Universal feature films, Totally Baked, and The LoveMaster. He has recurred two times on Parks & Recreation, and has guest starred in such film and TV productions as Pleasantville, Scream 2, Fuller House and Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013 by the American Guitar Society, Jack Sanders’ performances have included the Sitka Summer Music Festival, Kapalua Music Festival of Hawaii, Arrowhead Bach Festival, and solo appearances with numerous orchestras, including the Illinois Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Santa Fe, Modesto Symphony, Orange County Chamber Orchestra and South Coast Symphony.  Sanders’ final concert while a faculty member at Pomona College was To the Edge of Dream by Toru Takemitsu with the Pomona College Orchestra under the direction of Prof. Eric Lindholm.  In addition, he has performed with the St. Petersburg, Colorado, and Angeles String Quartets, the vocal group I Cantori, and the contemporary chamber ensemble XTET. Radio appearances have included NPR’s nationally broadcast “West Coast Live.”

As a Piatigorsky Foundation artist since 2005, Sanders performs throughout the United States, usually two or three tours each year.  In the 2024 season, he concertized in Georgia, Eastern and Western Texas, Montana and Idaho.

In 1984 Jack Sanders formed a duo with violinist Clayton Haslop which appeared at two Guitar Foundation of America Festivals, Merkin Hall in New York, the Oregon Bach Festival and concerts from Hawaii and Alaska to Maine. The Haslop/Sanders Duo toured for the California Arts Council, and a 1988 tour of China included the Shanghai Conservatory, where Mr. Sanders was the first U.S. guitarist to appear after the Cultural Revolution. The Duo has recorded for Centaur Records and Townhall Records. A solo recording by Mr. Sanders featuring the Preludes of Ponce, Villa-Lobos and Carlevaro was released by Townhall Records in the Spring of 2000.

Mr. Sanders has also performed with oboist Allan Vogel and flutist Janice Tipton as the Valencia Trio which appeared at the International Music Festival of Costa Rica and the Sedona Chamber Music Festival.

Equally at home performing music of all periods, he gave the American premiere of Micio Mamiya’s Sacred Spells for Guitar. Works written for him include Anthony Plog’s Animial Ditties for Guitar and Narrator, Karl Kohn’s Soliloquy, Tripartita, Concords (violin/guitar), Colla Voce (viola/guitar), and Frank Campo’s Two Studies (trumpet/guitar) which he has recorded for Crystal Records. In 1996 he gave the first performances of Las Folios D’Espana, a concerto by Louis Moyse and in January, 1999 he gave the U.S. premiere of Raymond Luedeke’s Elemental Dances with the Colorado String Quartet. In 2005, Mr. Sanders gave the premier performances of Music in Four Sharps for guitar and string quartet by Ian Krouse.

An accomplished luthier, Mr. Sanders builds classical and flamenco guitars, as well as historic reproductions of vihuelas, baroque guitars and 19th Century instruments. Sanders historic instrument copies have been commissioned by Yale University, San Francisco Conservatory, USC, UCLA, CSU Dominguez Hills, Columbus State University and others. A faculty member of Pomona College from 1980-2022, he has also taught guitar-building courses at California Institute of the Arts and Pomona College. He received his BFA and MFA degrees from California Institute of the Arts and has served on the Board of Directors of the Guitar Foundation of America.
