I am issuing this statement to legal counsel, the public and diplomatic human rights observers.
As of today, I have been falsely categorized by the Government of Canada "covid" authorities as having returned to the country recently, and therefore have been ordered to isolate and quarantine for 14 days. I received this notification this morning by email.
Here are the facts:
1. I have not returned to Canada since December 14, 2020, after which I successfully quarantined without incident and was released from that condition on December 29, 2020.
2. Neither then nor now have I ever displayed symptoms of covid illness.
3. On Tuesday, March 30, 2021, I attempted to enter the USA on compassionate grounds at the Blaine, Washington border crossing. This attempt occurred between 10:10 and 11:05 AM. I was refused entry. I never left my vehicle and was given a notice to this effect by the US Border Services. I then drove back to the Canadian border crossing and presented the statement from the US Border Services to the Canadian border guard, a young woman in her twenties. She processed my passport, nodded when I told her that I had just been refused entry and never left my vehicle, and said "You're free to go". She gave me no paperwork, instructions or indication that I had to quarantine, which she would have if quarantining was required.
4. This morning I received an "Emergency Order to Isolate" email from the Government of Canada covid agency. Their statement falsely states that I recently returned to Canada. I state uncategorically that this is demonstrably untrue and constitutes a misrepresentation of the facts and the truth about me.
I call upon the Government of Canada covid agency to cease and desist from issuing false and fraudulent statements about me, and to immediately withdraw the requirement that I quarantine for 14 days, since there is no cause or basis in fact or law for them to issue such an order to me.
