sun that releasing you having a healthier happy relationship with money my name is Steve Sexton I want to thank you for joining us then would have said thank you for sharing your friends and family we were well over 50 episodes of really really excited to come today and we're definitely talking about money here's the reality we seen wildfires in California we're still seeing that it's November on top of that you have the nor'easters you have hurricane season coming or going to be talking about with the West Coast expert on a stream Wildfire on these issues many homeowners and at-risk areas are worrying about how they can rebuild their lives if disaster strikes and whether insurance will provide enough funds for the repairs as we cover the wildfires and we cover the Nor'easter that we cover the reins and all that we have Steve sevareid from the Greenspan company of the jesters International who acts as advocates for in
disaster situation and I've handled hundreds of wildfires and many other disasters are here to discuss the pitfalls and filing a claim what new insurance regulations mean to homeowners how can you best prepare yourself for dealing with insurance claim folks this is going to save or make you a ton of money today I'm also going to be talking about money moves to keep you out of The Pour House in retirement and here's a biggie you're still in the work world or you're working with a charity or anything else how would you like to learn how to speak persuasively to co-workers your body executive team the potential new client or group you want them they're beautiful eyes your service
if you don't speak well and persuasively you might not get that promotion you might not get that client or get the project for the planning committee don't worry we have Master speaker trainer International speaker and author Harvey Robinson teaching how to become a speaker Superstar narender see she's got this podcast called the million-dollar speaker Play It's a Wonderful show I want to thank you all for being here right up next we're going to be in addition to Arby Robinson Arby Robinson teaches business owner how to use public speaking to the market themselves so they can generate unlimited leave attract more clients grow their business fast as a public speaker and seminar training company already believes that every person has a unique message to share that only they can share the people that can only hear it from them the messages will end and someone suffering change someone Life Saver business or saving some of the Soul this is how important public speaking is if you have a fear of Publix
RV can help you eliminate forever also every teaches you how to write a speech using or 10 steps speaker system on stage with compass look like a pro and nowadays you have to be able to speak virtually that's super important to our be against welcome to the show just jumped into becoming a public speaking coach so how did that get started for you for asking me because I didn't plan on being a coach it wasn't something that when I grew up I said I'm going to be a public speaking town and happened by accident my degrees in Information Systems I'm happy and I went to work at a college for a company by the name of Deloitte Haskins & sells now Delight when a big CPA firms and I wasn't a CPA my job was to set up financial accounting systems on microcomputers we just got micro computer
and bookkeepers and controllers how to automate their County because up until then they were using manual accounting system for the Revolutionary time and my boss came to me one day and said RBI want you to get out there and start speaking and tell people that we're offering this brand new service American know what you know about public speaking but I didn't have any clients I didn't get any any projects nothing and I knew that I better do something because I could lose this job but I didn't know what I was doing wrong I just need going out there and speaking and have no clue and so one day this woman comes up to me out to go to my class and she said honey I hate to tell you this and I'm like they can do it right get a job and she said to me do you know what after every sentence you say okay
and I just like jaw dropped it was okay but I got it even that moment that I was a problem did you see cuz I could slap my job didn't make me a public speaker that I needed to respect this thing called public speaking right beside it in that moment that I was going to get trained not only change I was going to mess with it I took classes anything with public speaking of communication in the Bible I cook and I hired a coach and I read books I did everything I could and then the most amazing thing happened the better I got the dead or my clients. And the more client I got and then my colleagues wanted to know what I was doing I started teaching them then the big boss wanted me to teach these group communication skills to other Consultants as you are of public speaking was born with in Corporate America for me and then I used it throughout my 23-year career
not only to get clients chipper upward mobility within my own firm it is great I'm so then once after 23 years I was at the highest I could go without being a CPA and that was a senior manager and by then the industry was so full of Consultants it just wasn't any fun anymore I wasn't trailblazing anymore so I decided it was time to make a change but I didn't know what kind of change to me. I prayed about it and God said public speaking to 17 years ago I left Corporate America started my own business and I since that time I've trained over 5,000 yd coaches Consultants you name it and given over 3,500 speeches all over the world and I don't take him trust anybody impress upon everyone that you can do it but this too can be a lifestyle if you choose that you two can you speaking to change the world save lives and make a difference
he's top of his class or electrical engineering his worst class was public speaking he got to be he was so happy that thankfully got to be but she just said she know it all these other people look like they're on TED Talks you know all my engineering friends there they're afraid to standing up in front of people and talking with the reality is there probably could be better at it because they already have a process just like you and I T because once you learn the process your golden and when I got out of corporate America and into the public speaking Arena I want four systems and processes already there why recreate the wheel well there wasn't any the closest that I found a 1 seed was Howard beginning middle and then but no one would tell you what to put in the beginning middle of one watching lying and I'm telling you exactly what steps to create a persuasive presentation that will get you business and change lies and get people that you know if you're just trying to get pee
I think like you do don't like you do whatever it might be this system will do it I want to help us understand the process by how you would go about coaching somebody to speak well in public that you just over and over and over to get business but first of all I would teach you how to do your core message which is also another formula that I put together the core message is what some people call me I won't be to speak but I called the car message because it's the essence of what you do and from there it's like your heart and from there everything else comes your professional Story the title of your talks everything stems out of that core message the once we've got that right the very hard and what it is you do for client then we start in the formula
and organ system for developing actual speech putting it together step by step OK feature time doing something different and quite frankly when I started the first interview I did on TV the comment that I got as they look like a cheerleader cuz I was I was using my hand
what they said it was passionate so it was good how does somebody get used to a room and get comfortable being onstage practice practice practice training training training because a lot of people step on stage especially business on her because business owners don't look at themselves as speakers so they think that they can just get away with murder and you can't because if you step on stage when you're a not trained be not practice see not prepare and you're going to lose this if you have the opposite effect so you want to make sure and reputation and future opportunity so if to cost me to go out there without being trained rehearse and of course out well prepare once you learn once you've been trained then I recommend that you practice 1 hour for every two minutes
a presentation so that means if you're going to do a 30-minute Speech day do you need to practice 15 hours that would make you girl that's what actually makes you go from good to great. That's what helps you. Always know your speech you become the script so that nothing will tell you off you won't forget what you're going to say which is always a beer and you will have that kind of confidence to deliver I've not only a great speech for yourself but really for your audience practicing it out loud not eating it not writing out your skeet I am against writing out your presentation because then you become a prisoner of your own elegant words so dull outline only and then just say it so many times out loud that you will be coming it's like that song Stevie Wonder in the car I was listening to that popular song on the radio
and it was like we never set out to learn all the words so we know all the words that's what happens to our brain when we hear something over and over and over so I recommend you speak it out loud walk around your office walk around the park walk around wherever you need you still wonderful you're driving your car going to work do you need to hear this stuff to stick with this will be right back more expert advice for having a happier relationship with money still to come on the saving with Steve show
don't let your financial woes keep you up at night and prevent you from living a life of Financial and personal freedom hi I'm Steve Sexton post of the saving with Steve show where did he talk about the in an ounce of money does Financial issues that could be costing me thousands of dollars causing stress keeping you up at night we're going to talk about money tax reduction saving more spending your investment risk management retirement and everything is so sweet with you having a healthier happy relationship with money soon as you've ever dreamed of living a life of Financial and personal freedom you owe it to yourself and your family to tune in to the saving with Steve show join me Steve sex and out of saving with Steve show as we talked about everything under the sun when it comes to money to learn more about the show visit saving with Steve. I'll give me a shout of the holy spirit is that all I do know is that the Red Bull before I say I'm the best I'm the best I'm the best Nigerian said out of ego I say it because my audience deserves the best and so does your audience every time you step on their I know things happen like you said something happened in your life doll generator whatever that's going to happen once in awhile but for the most part we can control what happens to us another where is it by all the speech I'll make sure that I have a light morning that I can just go and I'll get up and eat and get ready at ease and I'm not rush and frazzled I will try to cram so much stuff in my schedule like today Steve I have three speaking engagement you're one of them
and so I created my day so that I can come in today. Full energy full attention play my AJ if you can plan your day like that around your speaking engagements that you'll be left frazzled and there won't be time for these other things to come come in and bother you and that you are because life works that way it's going to try to knock you off your feet start again a mantra of some kind that gets you propelled into speaking not seeing a couple other speakers that what they do it they taste that gets them gone they pasted before they go in and some of them you know pray or whatever whatever propels you and it's going to be different for everybody that's what you want to do that self-talk is so important do not step on stage or even close to the stage and tell yourself you're nervous or you're not prepared as you're not ready you need to get ready because that audience deserves the desk from you
Mantra is I actually like to get there about 45 minutes early if it's a 30-minute talk and I like to walk around the stage look out the strange and say hello like my sound check and then I go off in my corner and do my speech not to myself but out loud to the wall and and I I practice everything from my hand gestures to my jokes try not to laugh at myself everybody has a process I thought that's really cool one of the biggest things that's happening right now because the pandemic is speaking virtually and it's a fireman because people can look at the TV their cell phone they can go all different directions there's a process of that what are some of the tips that you could help some of our listeners when they're dealing with that and I'm going to get to how to keep your audience engaged as well as a speaker
call of everything now see when we would go in the live room we would maybe speak and I don't know speak on a stage or maybe on the restaurant we had no control with no control over this town no control over the environment no control over the crowd or anything really just only our message but in this environment we're in charge of everything that is very important to make sure you have lights I've seen so many speakers present in the dark if it is going to be on some video you have to make sure you have a professional microphone so that people can hear you and it resonates with you that's something that in life world we didn't have to worry about unless it was a big crowd and it was always provided for us the PowerPoint or the computer it was provided for us now guess what if you're going to use PowerPoint video or anything else during your presentation you better make sure you have a strong internet because there's nothing more frustrating to the audience than for you to be Frozen and in mid-sentence so
when you were in charge of everything and just know that you're going to speak in this environment you need to invest in some possibly some new equipment number two to keep your audience engaged because yes we are so competing with emails and people that have two screens in their house listening to us and have nots you have to bring on your A game every single time you have to do what I do to help me is I stand up so I have a stand-up desk because if I spoke on a live stage I would be standing up that's going to help you to have that type of energy you need to make sure you're well practiced in your welder are you not read the screen we can see you read right or a teleprompter do you professional speaker and know your material and just think of your eyes I didn't even you know your material than you are free and you can get in that zone I'm not Zone will take you all the way through that screen that's why I called
out of the box when you're in the Box you actually Reach people through the screen and pull them in to be with you and they don't want to do anything except to be with you so that's one of the tricks you just got a really imagine yourself going through that computer screen reaching somebody's not their neck Reddit reaching out to them and touching them and touching her heart to do is comment on PowerPoint because I've been in a few presentations were quite frankly it was Death by PowerPoint so I mean it was a yes let me share that the PowerPoint like everything else has changed and when you're on the in a live room for 30 minutes please I tell people might do not use PowerPoint that's what is the kiss of death but guess what I'm missing my arm and I do accept it and train it but here's the the key and I'll still be pictures nobody wants to
words on your power point I don't care how elegant you are to stay away from words and let pictures do the docking videos are really powerful the Open Heart in this environment and then what I would recommend is a hybrid so that it's not all PowerPoint to start out where you're starting out with just you and you have the the host spot like you so you're bigger than life so no one could mistake you in a room of 100 people and then you share you do your phone to use you do your attention Grabbers you do your professional story you build rapport with your audience then when you get to the meat portion and I teach my system kind of like a sandwich or the or the bottom piece of his clothes and the middle is the meat or your educational pieces is on PowerPoint so you switch over right here you're like this and then you just to let me share my screen by then if you bumbler fumble with your PowerPoint
nobody cares because you've already built report you've already given him Great Value they already feel like they know you so you can Bumble and Bumble I mean there's nothing worse than a speaker go on and here's Barbie and then I'm going to begin on June for a year and I still don't know what I'm get your way into the content and then boom give him the contact then if the air before you're ready for your clothes you get out of it again show your face make sure everybody's good look around whatever and if you don't have questions that's a good time to have them if not you go right into your clothes how come your clothes is one that you don't need a PowerPoint now I would like to talk about closure because it's so different in this environment and after a year I feel like I've got it down so used to be on the life stage select business cards do a raffle we would collect
how many percent of the business card that's not going to happen in the virtual world I tested it you're lucky to get 25% doing a giveaway so you can do still do a giveaway you can and I'll put in your link for a strategy session you only get two or three leaves where the old on the life stage you would get 5 so it's about 50% or less of the kind of response if you're selling on the stage in this environment let me give you the truck in the secret sauce for that this is what I've experienced in my job I just did a one-day about my clothes 40 per-cent of the rent right what am I my talk to some Secret Sauce to one of my students he brand-new she's in my Mastermind and she get her very first webinar and she only she got 10 people there and she sold 60% of them when it's your very first webinar and it was
yes I know this works that's pretty but here is the secret sauce make sure you do all bonuses but not too many the more bonuses you add the less attractive it is because people are overwhelmed and they all got I'll never watch all those videos I'll never do that me and I have to try this the hard way right cost me money trying but I'm giving you for free here on that is so just did a couple little bonuses that people can easily watch if it's a video or go and get and then you have the big price of whatever it is I'm you want to drop it like 3/4 of the price and dropping prices is it new but I'm talking about being real and real value so I have a $4,000 that you're training which I've had for years and that's what it is it's $44,000 in the pandemic nobody's going to spend four days with me so I dropped it to a weekend create your speech in a weekend and you think I drop and half price
I dropped it down to 997 on people buy it like crazy and how can I do that because I've cut out two days I get off a 90 minute lunches and I and I can do it kind of sitting in my home I'm with my husband and my dog so I can afford to take left and give more to think about that drop is 3/4 and people will buy it till the cows come home wonderful RV I need you to start telling people how they can connect with you where they can go to watch and see your million-dollar speaker podcast the holeshot podcast to iTunes Us that's saving with Steve. Us saving with Steve. Us will see you soon
welcome back to the show that is here to help you achieve your financial goals it's the saving with Steve show now here's your host Steve Sexton they welcomed back wasn't Arby Robinson just wonderful the better speaker you could become the easier it is for you to communicate change to client all sorts of things I think she can make a difference at minimum go to your podcast now let's talk about money moves to keep you out of The Pour House in retirement biggest mistake you'll ever make in your financial life are the mistakes you quite frankly don't even know your problem is most people don't know what they don't know and as a result a lot of times they're making a mistake because they don't have enough information to make a good decision everybody host after Decades of hard work to retire with enough money to spend Equis more enjoying the fruits of their labor the reality is the average American is nowhere near ready their savings Won't Last a decade back there probably last about three years
research shows by Transamerica for retirement studies found that meeting Savings in this country is just about $144,000 that might sound like a healthy amount of money but if you're over 65 or older and spend $46,000 a year that ain't going to last you long day so it's important to take a hard look at your finances if you haven't already it's time to take a deep breath through your budget look at things that you're spending some of those things might not even worse wedding or you're spending on apps other things that you don't even use trim the fat cut back on unnecessary spending and allocate Morty retirement savings if you own a home in our planets teeth retirement come up with a plan to ensure that your mortgage is fully paid off before you retire if you're not sure how many ways you can look at refinancing a mortgage to 15 years or 10 years or whatever the key is to get out of those debt out of the loans so you can have her for a retirement might want to consider
downsizing your home you may have plenty of sentimental reasons that you want to stay in your current home in fact my folks are 85 and they moving but if it's now the place where you need it but you don't need all the space consider may be renting out a room or you might want to consider selling out not waiting until you have to sell the house cuz if you invest the profits now you accrue more interest than a few new bring another 10 or 15 years one of my clients watch too many of my clients have done this but just one they ran a small business over here they were grinding it out they didn't have a ton of retirement savings they were also paying a large mortgage here in California they found a wonderful location in Tennessee actually sold her house in California took the cash proceed paid off the house remodeled it okay bought the new house cash remodel it to the way they wanted and it moved
here's a big thing they no longer pay California property taxes health insurance Ray electric rate in a longer have a mortgage so the swing was significant on their budget and the reality is there still running their small business in Tennessee but you know what if they retired today did have enough money to call Bob all the expenses including a little bit of travel just based off of Social Security one thing can make a big difference but understanding what you're getting into makes a big difference as well next thing think about beefing up your emergency fund Financial typically recommend you have an emergency fun of at least three to six months worth of living expenses know the reality is you're probably a little bit more maybe a couple years why Marcus go down what if we have another 2008 in your portfolio goes down 30% so think about this you have a million dollars you're taking out 5% that's $50,000 a year your portfolio
I was down the 700,000 instead of taking 5% you taking almost eight or nine percent out
it's a market isn't growing at eight or nine percent your portfolio drains down further making it harder to recover and it may take even longer in fact after 2008 there's probably is still a few people are still working to try and make up for the losses that had from the wrist are now this is very significant because if the market goes down a couple years of her you retire or couple years after hey you could be reeling from that so think of ways to bolster up your emergency fund to couple years to cover in case you have the market downturn consider investing in a Roth IRA taxes will be one of the biggest drains on your retirement funds moving forward in the future and it might even be higher than it is right now but by looking at ways to convert money or fund a Roth IRA you can be in a position where you diversify your tax allocation what that really means is if you're taking money from Social Security and paying tax on that that's reduced because of that most you can get taxed 85% if you're taking me
it's tax-free which is a wonderful place to be and if you're taking money from other Investments stocks that are 15% you have a lower tax rate and I have a client that we helped because of a Roth IRA they are making about $84,000 a year they are in Ohio higher than their taxes they had interest income Investments that they were generating and what we did is we moved some of the interest income Investments to attack Stafford structure which means they didn't have to pay any taxes until they took out the money which was great then we have him start taking money from their Roth IRA and you know what they end up paying taxes only on their social security but here's the interesting thing they went from paying $4,150 a year in taxes and because that they don't pay any taxes on the Roth IRA
and because we moved them into a 12% tax record all the proceeds are receiving from dividends and capital gains or no longer taxable which meant the only taxes that they were paying was on their social security in after you subtract the standard deductions they went to paying $16 a year so you went from 4150 to $16 a year by utilizing a Roth IRA and understanding the tax code you can come to now the next thing is you wanted to update your Investment Portfolio many people if they buy they let it sit there they look for the long-term hey this is great if you have hundreds of millions of dollars but it doesn't work if you don't have tremendous amounts of money why because the market changes Market sector has run out of favor we saw that during the last 18 months so you're going to see that again you're going to see market downturn so it's important to understand the risks you're taking on and make sure your portfolio is allocated properly you might want to consider looking at reducing the risk in your portfolio by U2
Rising Bond annuities things like that that are Prince will be subjected cuz they can make a difference in your life the Moral Stories is folks I said it once and I'm saying again the biggest mistake you ever make a financial life are the mistakes you don't even know that you're making the reality is a lot of people don't know what they don't know and that creates problems especially in their financial so make sure you speak with a financial advisor help you put a plan in place so you don't make poor decisions in the retirement and have to change your dream or your lifestyle when you can't go back to work with that stick with this work and be right back with more shaving with Steve we have Steve sevareid with glad you're here
oh thanks for having me stay really appreciate it yeah you know what you know what the hell I think people would like to start out with you do besides knowing that you have a great dinner wonderful background and experience it's what is a public adjuster because you're a public adjuster for Greenspan company International Justice I got that right adjusters International sorry about that but what's a public adjuster and how can I help you know people's your homeowner save money if they have a claim a lot of people have never heard of a public adjuster license by various State Department of Insurance to represent the policyholder never the insurance company so just as you have an insurance company that brings out and adjuster either an employee of the insurance company or they hire what's called an independent adjuster which doesn't make him independent at all actually because they report the insurance company in and work for the insurance company people of the opportunity to balance the scale
insurance company other experts by bringing their own necks for the public adjuster who advocates for their interest exclusively and preparing presenting and open the window she dating to claim to get the best benefit from the insurance policy purchase okay so let's talk about some of the pitfalls that people have nowadays especially when they're looking at Lovelace just go through the I'll tell you what I know somebody that we talked to earlier than we ever talked about early in the week that have been with their carrier for 35 years to lo and behold find out for three reasons the claim that they have was just not covered and you know what she thought I said hey I have this coverage is good there's no issues I just didn't think about it kept paying so why should people who have had a policy for 20-30 years be concerned about the type of power
see that they have an hour or more probably what's in that policy questions if you know the there certain events I think we talked about that situation was a little bit and the damage but one of the problems people have they buy their insurance policy 20 years ago and they don't do regular check-ups insurance policy has it and I demand it that raises the limits of a little bit each year but that often doesn't keep up with inflation especially in today's market with all the inflated costs of construction materials in the lack of labor but even before that happens these policies that people have 40 + 15 20 30 years oftentimes aren't representative of what should we build in cost would be should ever have a fire supper some kind of tragic loss and so it's it's really important that you do I turn to valuation don't just rely on the fact that you had to cuz you might not be covered nearly as well as you think you are so
let's say you have a house that's 30 years old you're in a wildfire in the house burns down and it needs to be replaced okay they have to replace that house using the current building codes well as opposed to using a two-by-four they have to use a four-by-four is opposed to using 6-gauge wire day after use 8-gauge wire they can no longer do they can't use galvanized pipe the SD use copper pipe now when we're talking about Lumber would have lumpers like three hundred times more expensive than it was last year yes ma'am into percent higher $2,000 plus my house but if they're framing that house it might cost $100,000 just for the lumber for that house meeting if you only have $200,000 of coverage you might have to write a check for an extra couple hundred thousand dollars to make sure your house gets built is that correct first of all is making sure that you have a proper
Sharkboy rebuild cost you right and those rebook costing as escalated and there's often a provision in the policy to get some extended coverage beyond the policy limit but it's only a certain percentage so you can't really rely on on that as your your buffer your cushion the other thing you brought up with changing the building materials because of the latest building ordinance or law and that's really a separate part of all substandard policies that so often times there will be some coverage but sometimes it's limited to 10% of the policy or some of those invitations and you in awhile by razon you really want to look and see what that could look like for you and you might want to increase your cover to make sure you have enough coverage for those changes in the building codes because otherwise you could be on the hook for those differences in between what you had and what to build with
do you know what you've dealt with earthquakes and you know what the state of California has the California earthquake Association and even you know what a lot of people will purchase that policy thinking that they have it completely covered and you know what is that necessarily true
no it's not better though Steve I'll tell you right after the LA earthquake in Northridge earthquake earthquake coverage became almost impossible to get they came up with this California earthquake Authority the coverages were really bad the deductibles were really high. Market has loosened because we haven't had a major earthquake event so it is more affordable and the coverages are getting better but those coverage is certainly are not as complete and and don't cover you nearly as well as your typical fire policy covers you so you got to realize when you're buying a bike insurance that you're still you're still going to have some skin in the game something bad happened to your property so it's just it's just one of those things where the earthquake coverage doesn't cover everything you think it's in the reason why I'm saying that is your what
people should understand what's in the policy okay. From a technical level but more like what exactly does it cover like for example your pipes burst we're not going to fix the pipe they're going to fix the things around the pipe the good news is it won't pay for that one piece of pie so you are correct they don't pay for the pipe they pay for all the damage caused the damage you caused back with more from Steve sevareid public adjuster here with Greenspan company adjusters International more expert advice for having a happier relationship with money still to come on the saving with Steve show
don't let your financial woes keep you up at night and prevent you from living a life of Financial and personal freedom hi I'm Steve Sexton post of the saving with Steve show where did he talk about the in an ounce of money does Financial issues that could be costing me thousands of dollars causing stress keeping you up at night we're going to talk about money tax reduction saving more spending your investment risk management retirement and everything is so sweet with you having a healthier happy relationship with money soon as you've ever dreamed of living a life of Financial and personal freedom you owe it to yourself and your family to tune in to the saving with Steve show join me Steve sex and out of saving with Steve show as we talked about everything under the sun when it comes to money to learn more about the show visit saving with Steve. Because they've actually used it put into practice recognize how important it is so there's some new online a tech companies coming into the market for the not really doing the grading
my sister sent selling a product that doesn't have nearly as much inside the policy and as a as a consumer don't really know one policy from another but I can tell you that more comprehensive policies with fire sub-limits and bigger coverages and and cover you for more types of loss was really important valuable cuz you don't know what might happen to so to buy something online without really knowing or some big box stores are now getting in the insurance business and selling insurance and that's really not the right way to be protected for a little bit more money you can get a lot better coverage and a lot more comprehensive coverage in a little safer little paper bags so when we when we talk about coverage help me out with an example of that
well we talked about building ordinance or law coverage a little while ago Steve and that's an optional coverage that some policies don't have any coverage for and if you're in an older home that could be really important some policies don't have any standard replacement cost to mention that earlier so you buy a policy for $500,000 on your house often times you'll be able to get what's called extended replacement cost which will give you some percentage above that number should have cost more that might be 25% of might be 50% of Mike 100% And so that's a big difference in coverage if you're looking at one product that has 0% above the policy limit another doubles your policy limit that could be hugely impactful specially or coming into labor crisis and a material prices this if it's really important understand especially with the value of homes that the increased since all this buying frenzy and you know what it it makes a lot of sense to really evaluate with whoever your agent is to make sure you know exactly what you have cuz it's
what you don't know that actually hurt you especially when it comes to insurance now
your what
when you have somebody in the Wildfire areas what's the best way to prepare their home if they're dealing with the Wildfire area you know what can you help us with that
well obviously aside from insurance things like like videotaping and making sure you have your policy documents and a lot of people recommending car so that means clearing brush out from your home so that you get rid of any trees overhanging your your roof that could catch fire on them capture your home on fire just be thinking about the hazards that are surrounding your property and how the bite by not tending to that dried grass out there the brush up there could actually put you in a weird position should some is that come through the area yeah it is it seems like it would make a lot of sense to have oily brush 50 or 60 yards away from the house as opposed to having a lantern on fire in front of the next to your house I see okay so you know what
around your property and pay attention to if you've never had a wildfire you wouldn't even think twice about it in fact you probably don't even pay attention to a lot of things but if it hit you and hit you right in the face and it hurts and you don't want it to hurt what do things you if somebody's involved in a residential disaster mean like they're they're involved with a wildfire in their house gets burned down a partially burnt okay what is the list of some of the things that they should be doing right when that occurs
well obviously taken care of your family as priority to having a place to sleep is a priority so the number one thing is is find a place reckon the don't find a place to quickly because some people were run out the Renta an apartment on the rent the house right away and then in a month or two months to get claustrophobic and they realize that they they ran out and do something quickly take a little bit of time it's a motel rooms figure out where you want to be this is a long process when you're a victim of wildfire it's not over and 60 days it takes months and months and sometimes years to recover a recognized that when you are out of your home find a comfortable place to stay but make it temporary while you get your head on straight and figure out what to do you notify your insurance company the claim keep all of your receipts for everything you're spending money on a cup of coffee at McDonald's in the morning all these things are important when documenting your claim later it's hard to find a receipt that doesn't exist 6 months from now so and then
do you write little notes to yourself so if there's a nondescript receipt you can figure out 5 months from now when you're going to receive what was that where can I buy I don't even know what it was document every conversation you have with your insurance company to decide whether you want extra help and attention but your claim at the top of the stack and make sure you get the best response you know what Steve I want to thank you for sharing this information with us today and I want to add this you know what I used to work for an insurance company property Casualty Company and I remember that they really didn't like in a Public Adjusters and the reason being is because they paid out a lot more money buy things where you were far more comprehensive cuz I also know when your captain working for a company you have certain guidelines that you have to follow and you have a certain expenses that you can you know certain limits and all
I kind of stopped when you have somebody really understand what's going on and can detail things obviously you're going above that limit so you know what I think it makes a lot of sense for somebody to take the time to find a public adjuster a good one that can help me get more for their claim so they can get their house built back up or their business and sell it
I totally agree with you see now I want to tell everybody this you know what Steve separate in Greece man company International gestures have you know what being racist with
