MEXICO CITY (AP) - The Volcano of Fire in western Mexico
blasted ash and gas three miles high Friday, with an explosion
that was heard in villages 10 miles from the crater, local
officials said. No injuries were reported.

Ash from the 10:46 a.m. (11:46 a.m. EDT) eruption fell on towns
to the northwest, the Jalisco state civil defense agency said,
and emergency workers there were distributing hospital-type
masks for protection...
