It’s about CHANGE!
Change happens. And lately, lots of it. And much
more is coming. We can either be surprised by it, or be
prepared for it; we can either hate it or deal with it.
You have a choice. If you choose to deal with it positively,
this is the show for you. Come and join the conversation
about what’s going on and what we can do together about
it, with it, and for it. We have the choice, we have the
power. We can do magic if we just believe! Every Monda at
9pm Pacific Time on BBS
Radio Station 1.

BIOGRAPHY
Born of Italian immigrant parents, Filippo was raised in
beautiful Northern California, but for all intents and purposes
it may have well been Southern Italy. Determined to keep
the Italian culture alive in their children, his parents
raised him in Italian social circles speaking Italian, eating
Italian, drinking Italian, and listening to Italian music,
especially Italian operas.
As a small boy, before he can even remember, his parents
would stand him up on top of the kitchen table to sing and
entertain their guests. As the years progressed he incorporated
into his weekly family shows, everything from singing and
playing instruments to magic tricks, stories, and eventually
directing “full productions” staring his siblings.
As he grew older he focused on academia attaining a Bachelor
Degree from the University of California, San Diego in Engineering
Management w/ emphasis on Computer Engineering. He was recruited
by IBM and quickly excelled into Jr. Management. Throughout
his studies and professional career however, he always made
time to pursue music and performance, his first love, with
leading roles in Community Theater, operas and his own concerts,
telling his stories and singing in English, Italian, Latin,
Spanish, French, German, Sicilian, Portuguese, and Neapolitan.
Eventually his inborn love and talent for music won out.
Upon leaving IBM he exploded onto the Italian music scene
and has never looked back. Soon after his first public performance
in Los Angeles, The Burbank Leader wrote - "… he's setting
the world of music on fire. Filippo Voltaggio sizzles with
high energy in his performances, personally, vocally, and
musically, worthy of his ‘electric’ last name." Soon after,
he even got a “Best Bet!” nod of approval from the New York
Times.
Amici Magazine wrote - "Filippo has created a new craze
- at once satisfying the public's thirst for lyricism and
melody of the classics and the rhythm and style of today."
In a front-page article including two full color pictures
the Los Angeles Daily News wrote – “...rising star...[Filippo]
resembles a tan version of British Rock musician Peter Frampton,
but sounds more like Julio Iglesias or Frank Sinatra.…"
From the kitchen table to stage, radio, TV and film, he
is now comfortable making any venue his home whether as
Singer, Entertainer, Master of Ceremonies or in his new
role as National Radio Host of the Filippo and the Chef
Show, slated for TV in Winter 2007.
What seems like a few years later, he is now an eight-time
winner of the Sergio Franchi Vocal Competition, a two time
NIAF grant recipient, an MAF Grant winner, a Eugene O'Neill
Cabaret Symposium Fellow, a nominee for Entertainer of the
Year by the Southern California Motion Picture Council and
a winner of the Silver Bowl Award from the International
Society of Poets for the lyrics to his title song on his
last CD, “Love In Italiano.”
Both this and his debut CD, "REEL ITALIAN - Love Songs From
the Silver Screen” feature some of the most Romantic Italian
love songs and favorite Italian Standards along with 3 of
his own dynamic originals. Romantic Times Magazine wrote
- "Filippo's new CD is a perfect blend of flirty, fast-paced
tempos and slow, seductive songs performed in an enchanting
combination of Italian and English."
He and his work have also been recently honored with a chapter
in New York Best Selling Author Richard Grudens' latest
book, “Italian Crooners - A Bedside Companion.”
His many television and talk show appearances include Hollywood's
number one rated KTLA Morning News, PBS, RAI UNO International,
and Calabria SAT broadcasts in Italy. His music also plays
on Italian-American radio markets nationwide and in Canada,
and he has appeared live, in-studio and on-air on numerous
interviews.
Combining his talent for singing, story telling and entertaining,
Filippo, along with "The Chef," Richard Lombardi, created
a unique blend of Entertainment, which included dynamic
celebrity interviews with the world’s most loved and delectable
Italian recipes in a show called “Filippo and the Chef.”
The Show quickly became the most celebrated Italian-American
cooking show on radio nationwide, and its Internet simulcast,
and accompanying blog “Filippo’s
Italian American Experience” attracted listeners from
over 25 Countries.
The show hosting continues with his latest addition of shows,
“Life Changes with Filippo.” Stay tuned for more on this
exciting show.
On the big screen you can hear his beautiful voice in the
box-office hit “Noise,” "A Walk in the Clouds,” "Europa,”
and "Surge of Power.” As an actor you can see him in a breakout-leading
role in the film: "Run While You Can” due in theaters Fall
2008.
It would seem that all along his parents knew it would come
to this. Worcester Magazine agrees, and wrote "High-voltage
Italiano! Filippo brings people to their feet…” How fitting
to note that his name Filippo Voltaggio can translate into
"Love Voltage," the electricity of love…. We hope you feel
it too!
