Dr Carl O Helvie interviewed two back pain experts and two CEO’s of companies providing natural products for back pain and arthritis pain. These are pictured from left to right: Dr Andrew Fleschner, Dr Andrew Block, Mr Daniel Chapman, and Mr Tamer Elsafy.
Dr Andrew Fleschner is a board certified physician who is in private practice in Bala Cynwdy, Pennsylvania and has a consultancy in Miami, Florida. Last night Dr Carl O Helvie, Host, Holistic Health Show interviewed Dr Ross Hauser (left) and Dr Thom Lobe (right).
Dr Hauser talked about prolotherapy a medical procedure of injecting natural substances into a site such as the knee to regenerate cartilage. He has been performing this procedure sucessfully for 12 years and studied with the physician who invented the procedure., He has also written books on the procedure. Dr Carl O Helvie, host of the Holistic Health Show, will interview Dr Garrett Smith on Saturday, November 28 on BBS Radio on Station 1 at 12 noon PST and 3 p.m. EST. Dr Smith is a native and near-lifetime residence of Tucson, Arizona and received his doctorate from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona and has a baccalaureate in Physiological Science from the U of Arizona in Tucson. He uses a holistic approach in his practice and includes teaching about nutrition, supplements, exercise and meditation as well as a form of energy medicine known as Body Talk, Low Intensity Laser Therapy, laser acupuncture, laboratory analysis, nutrition, injection therapies and supplementation. In his spare time he enjoys exercising in his home gym, reading, cooking, road cycling, and spending time with his family.
In his work with arthritis patients he often uses Low Intensity (”cold”) therapy, and a no-nightshade diet. He will talk about nightshades and their affect on arthritis during the interview.

Dr Kamhi, (above left) an expert in and author on arthritis is known as the “Natural Nurse”. She is very active professionally and her biography was published in a previous blog. She talks about causes of arthritis including stress, the natural ways to deal with arthritis including maintaining an alkaline body, the advantages of natural treatments over chemicals, and other aspects of arthritis.
Cindy Holt is a registered nurse, and massage therapist, and has completed the course work for a doctorate in naturopathic medicine. She has arthritis of the spine that she controls primarily with natural methods. Dr Perlman is Director of Integrative Medicine at St Barnabas Health Care System and Medical Director of the Carol and Morton Siegler Center for Integrative Medicine in Livingston, New Jersey. He discusses the integrated approach to cancer treatment that is used at St Barnabas and that is a model of care combining traditional and altenative therapies.
