LBAM Spray Program

Hi All:
The facts around "CheckMate" (what a name for a pesticide which will primarily be sprayed upon urban and non-agricultural areas) is quite disturbing. Here are some vital facts and concerns regarding the the LBAM (Light Brown Apple Moth) spray program:
1) CheckMate LBAM-F is the name of the pesticide which state officials want to continue to spray all over us. The president of the company of CheckMate donated 144,000 to Governor Schwarzenegger's political campaign. (See:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/03/08/BAF1VG26A.DTL)
2) In the Monterey County spray program, the wealthier communities of Pebble Beach, Carmel by the Sea and the 17 mile-Drive were NOT sprayed! If there is a dangerous infestation that warrants the aerial bombardment of totally residential (non-agricultural)
areas, then why would the wealthiest communities of that area be given exemption? How do the moths know how to avoid the backyards and gardens of California's most wealthy?
3) In Santa Cruz County they plan to spray the entire urban populations of Santa Cruz, but they do not intend to spray in Corralitos (which is where are most of the apple and fruit orchards are in SCC). This spray program makes no sense if they truly are targeting the LBAM. The map of the spray program in these two counties can be found at: http://www.cdfa.ca.gov/phpps/PDEP/lbam/pdfs/maps/LBAM_CA_AERIAL_10_19_07.pdf
4) There is no real agricultural emergency. No crops have been lost. One of (California Secretary of Agriculture) Karamura’s own AG spokespeople said if nothing was done to control the moths, crop damage would amount to about 2% which is actually less than from some other pests and minor as far as production. http://antinewworldorder.blogspot.com/2007/10/governor-schwarzenegger-backs-aerial.html
5) According to Bruce Wright, "CDFA Admits there is zero documented evidence of LBA moth harm in California agriculture or ecosystems (none, nada, zip)! LBA Moth has been in Hawaii for more than 100 years – Their Agricultural Agency does NOT consider it a "significant pest"!"
[Bruce Wright has a B.S. in Terrestrial Ecology and professional background in agriculture.] See: http://www.care2.com/c2c/share/detail/531467
6) No-Spray activist, Annie S. from Santa Cruz, asked on a on-line forum, "We live in an area that's supposed to have the apple moths but in the last two weeks we haven't seen any kind of moth at all. The moth's are dormant so why spray?"
7) According to Bruce Wright, "the chemical proposed for Spraying (LBAM-F) has NOT been tested in any way for harm to biota. US-EPA gave it an Emergency Exemption from testing."
A. G. Kawamura donated $21,000 to Schwarzenegger's gubernatorial campaign. He is now our Secretary of California Food and Agriculture. Is this not a serious form of "conflict of interests"? $17,000,000 has already been invested in this spray project, $15,000,000 of it from USDA before any notification to the public.
9)Dr. Larry Rose, M.D., MPH is a former Senior Public Medical Officer
for Cal-OSHA and part of the UCSF Occupational/Environmental Medicine
Department, has
published a report to inform Californian
physicians and
the public about the dire toxicity of the ingredients in LBAM Spray.

20MD%20MPH.pdf
10) In 1986 the US passed Right To Know Act in response to the Union Carbide disaster
in Bhopal. The aerial bombardment is escaping the purpose of the Right To Know Act. The
chemical in Bhopal was an isocyanate a relative of the ingredient in CheckMate LBAM-F.

Immediate short term acute health concerns are to be expected from
the known toxicology of several of the chemicals in the Checkmate
