Lest We Differ On Love (My response to Shakespeare)
Lest we hit upon no mark, erred by self;
Impediments can only eyes foresee. Love is ever elusive
Translucent, shimmering, a distant roaming specter
Unformed, if this be true.
And no, tis not a mark; ever fixed, unalterable;
It is life. Richer for it’s infinite subtlety, Stronger
That sees no tempest with eye alone, but heart, mind and more.
And Time, though it be, needs no mention here
A watcher only, a keeper of the record
What will be, will be, dated, known, remembered.
I know loves worth. I know its totality.
Here I err not, for man has loved.
The author disproved, and further
Time, true it’s compass comes, does not bend.
Love our aging surgeon, Well, Bringer of hues,
Rosy lips and cheeks.
Love hath shown me this.
