Thank you kindly Derek! Your identification with, and observations about the poem are welcomed. Thank you! You are a deep person, and I am amazed at your writing skills. Keep the poetry coming!!! I have not read Dream Deferred, but I will look it up!
: I love the image of blackened shards. When i think of shards I think of
: shrapnel or something inanimate, so for me it really spoke to how we
: as a society are at odds with the natural world, and how artificial
: constraints try to place barrier in front of our soul desire, our
: dreams. It also reminded me of the Langston Hughes poem "A Dream
: Deferred", and i like how it ended the way it began.
