I am a Naturopathic Physician, licensed in the state of Arizona. I live in gorgeous Sedona, AZ, which gives me a view of the beauty of Nature on a daily basis. My other talents include drawing, painting (watercolor & oils), stained glass, leatherwork, beadwork, lapidary, jewelry, and sewing...oh yes, and writing. I have written 2 books, which I have not released for publication yet, and I am writing 5 others concurrently.
I do not consider myself to be a poet--in fact, it had been about 40 years since I had written anything resembling a poem. The prose and poetry that I submit on The Author's Inkwell is something that kind of just runs through me. I don't know if you would call that 'channeled' (I really avoid that term since I live in a town full of 'channels'). The feeling that I get when I write is more like a concentrated focus of 3rd-dimensional reality that is reaching into higher dimensions of my own mental body.
My process is this: I think of something I'd like to write about, and expand my thought into that arena. Memories surface then, and I continue to explore, searching the grand meaning of it all--at least, as far as I am able to this point. As soon as my feelings are engaged and locked onto the thought thread, the words flow through me.
The 'flow' is what tells me I am connected. Most of my poems take less than one minute to write, and any other writings are done first time, no drafts, and no revisions. I believe we all have this capability--all that is required is that we CONNECT to our Higher Self.
